What's Happening At Agudas

May 1 - Social Action Havurah & Feed SA

Congratulations to volunteers Marcia Waldgeir, Rosalia Castro, Mauricio Mora, Freida Donzis, and Lauren Deal who spearheaded the collection of tuna and peanut butter for Feed SA! Additional thanks to Dr. Mike Ozer for leading the Social Action Havurah.

Not only did the volunteers collect food donations, but they also spoke to the students at Inda Posner Religious School about how Jewish values relate to addressing food insecurity. Further discussions are planned for IPRS with Rabbi Sharon Cohen and IPRS Director Melanie Levy.

May 4 - Celebrating Israel

We had such a great time learning and dancing at our Celebrating Israel night! Rabbi Rikki Arad taught us all about the history of Yom Hazikaron and Yom Ha'azmaut, how the holidays are observed and celebrated, as well as how Hebrew became the official national language of Israel. Then we were joined by Raphi Sonsino who showed us some exciting Israeli dances! We had a great turnout with lots of learning, laughing, dancing, and of course - eating some Israeli food! Thank you to everyone who joined us, and we hope you'll all join us again soon.

May 9 - HPS Muffins with Mom

The Heintz Preschool Students hosted Muffins with Mom for all their Moms. They enjoyed a coffee bar, muffins, and visits to the classrooms. In the classrooms, the students presented their Moms with gifts they had been working so hard on the previous week. It was delightful to be able to see our parents back in the building and visiting the school once again.

May 22 - IPRS' "Celebration of Knowledge"

IPRS’ last day of school has come and gone! We celebrated the students’ accomplishments with a “Celebrations of Knowledge” event! Students from every grade proudly came up to the Bima to express their favorite part of IPRS, sing a prayer they have learned, share their favorite character in Jewish History, or talk about their favorite Jewish Holiday. Parents proudly watched their children from the pews. Every teacher and assistant was presented with a beautiful gift thanking them for all their love and dedication. Rabbi Cohen was also gifted a beautiful handmade quilt created by our 3rd-grade teacher, Gail Clover, and decorated with signatures and sweet farewell messages from her students and colleagues. The morning ended with an Ice Cream Social, where students were given awards celebrating their growth as a Jewish child. Finally, a beautiful video was shown highlighting the many memories students, teachers, and families shared together over this year. We look forward to enjoying a restful summer and are already excited to get back to school in August!
