2010 High Holy Days Service Schedule Coming Soon . .
Book of Remembrance
Perhaps the most sacred moment of the High Holy Days season is when, as a Congregation, we collectively and individually recall those of our loved ones who are no longer with us. To sit in our inspiring sanctuary on Yom Kippur, the holiest day of the year, and to recall a voice, a smile, a gesture, an idea, a face, a tear, reinforces the very purpose of our Yiskor service . . . the continuity of life.
This coming Yom Kippur, adding to the importance of the day, we will once again publish our Book of Remembrance. Please download and fill out the form here and return it, along with your payment, to Rose Arrellano in the synagogue office BEFORE August 20, 2010 so your loved ones' names may be printed in this year's book. Names from last year's book are not automatically carried over to this year. The August 20th deadline will be kept and we regret that we cannot make any exceptions.
Sukkot Supplies
The week-long festival of Sukkot is one of the most joyous seasons of the Jewish year. Agriculturally, it celebrates the final gathering of fruits for the year. Historically, it represents the journey of Israel through the desert after the exodus from Egypt.
Agudas Achim is now accepting orders for the schach (palm frond bundles) and the lulav and etrog sets. Please download and complete the order form here and return it, with payment, to Rose Arrellano in the synagogue office. Your order will not be processed without payment. Deadline for orders is Friday, August 13, 2010.
Park and Pray
It's never too early to think about High Holy Days parking. Don't want to schlep on the shuttle or sweat in the heat? If you are interested in a parking spot for the High Holy Days, just mail in a check or credit card payment for $250 or contact Amy in the front office at 479-0307 or by email at a.levine@agudas-achim.org. Your prompt attention will assure your parking space as there are limited spaces available.
Meet New Friends - Be an Usher for the High Holy Days
Where does the time go? The High Holy Days are fast approaching. We need volunteer ushers for High Holy Day services. Ushers are needed for Erev Rosh Hashanah, first and second day Rosh Hashanah, Erev Yom Kippur, and Yom Kippur. Ushers at the daytime services will work in shifts.
Our ushering staff is completely egalitarian. Men and women are welcome. The staff is also diverse in age and young people in USY are as welcome as their parents and grandparents. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Greg Meyer at greg.b.meyer@gmail.com.
